Meet the Instructor: Robert Allen
Rhythmic roots is a community-based organization that strives to reach out to local and surrounding communities to stimulate healing and self-expression amongst all participants. Robert Allen founded Rhythmic Roots in the summer of 2018. Allen has drummed in the North Florida area for over 20 years. His involvement with Paralounge and Kuumba has guided him to traditional West African drum and dance. He has had pleasure to work under the direction of Natalie and Myron Jackson and the instruction of Master drummer, Papa Cheikh N’Dong with Kuumba in Tampa Florida. In addition to Allen’s background in West African drumming, he also builds and repairs djembes.
Meet the Instructor: Ramin Yazdanpanah, PhD
Rhythmic roots is a community-based organization that strives to reach out to local and surrounding communities to stimulate healing and self-expression amongst all participants. Percussionist and drum instructor Ramin Yazdanpanah’s sounds echo the Outback, the Silk Road, the Caribbean and his native Florida home. Ramin expresses the soulful and passionate rhythms of his Cuban-Iranian heritage on cajon, dumbek, djembe and a variety of world percussion from around the globe. Ramin has performed and recorded with numerous artists ranging from classical, jazz and folk, to funk, Latin, and hip-hop; from the east coast to the west coast and internationally. Ramin recently received is Ph.D in Intercultural Multilingual Education from Florida State University.
