LEO Season 2022

July 22 - August 23, 2022

Leo Season Affirmation

I follow my path wherever it leads me, trusting that my true purpose will overcome the criticism of others.

My Sun Sign is Leo – What Does It Mean?

Your Sun sign is the sign most closely associated with your personality and life’s trajectory. If your sun is in Leo, you have a sunny, fiery energy that can’t be burnt out. Your zest for life knows no bounds, and you are ready to fearlessly conquer any challenge. You are a fire sign ruled by the Sun itself, which means that you were born in the Sun’s most favorable position and you exude its qualities. Your warmth and vitality is contagious, bringing light and love to everyone around you.

Leos are always in the spotlight – your ruler, the Sun, shines down on you at all times. You may be a performer by profession, or simply enjoy putting on a show. You aren’t afraid to be bold, Leo. You let your light shine no matter who’s watching. Whatever you do, you’re born for center stage.

As a Leo, you are the fixed fire sign, which means that you have a tendency to be a bit hot-tempered. Watch out for difficulty regulating your emotions, especially fiery ones like anger and frustration. We recommend working with African turquoise, amazonite, and lava to help tame the fire. Fire isn’t all bad, though! For enhancing your naturally bright, warm, and passionate energy, we recommend working with beautiful summery crystals like sunstone, carnelian, and fire agate.

What This Leo Season Will Bring

Leo season roars in with high temperatures across the United States this year. Cancer szn kept us cool with the Crab’s watery energy, but Leo is turning up the heat! Expect a burst of energy, intensity, and passion. Now is the time for parties with friends, basking in the sun, and celebrating the end of summer.

The new moon in Leo this year falls on July 28th, and it’s the perfect time to try something new and exciting when it comes to your creative life. Whether you’re an artist, content creator, or just want to try out a new project, the Leo new moon is the perfect time to get your creative juices flowing.

August begins with the festival of Lughnasadh (“Loo-na-sah”), also called Lammas. This traditional Celtic festival is the first of three harvests (followed by Mabon and Samhain in September and October). Now is the time to begin looking back on everything you’ve accomplished this year and be proud of how far you’ve come. Celebrate the harvest with music, dancing, laughter, and (of course) food!

On August 8th, we have the Lion’s Gate Portal, which occurs on this date each year. This portal shifts the energy in a major way, opening you up to new and exciting possibilities. The manifestation power of this day is supercharged, so get your intentions ready!

The full moon in Aquarius on August 11th asks us how we can use our talents and self-confidence to bring positive changes to our community and society. Now is a time to gather your lion’s pride and take action!

Leo and the Strength Card

Leo is represented by the Strength card in the traditional Rider-Waite-Smith Tarot. The Strength card, the eighth in the Major Arcana, depicts a woman calmly holding the jaws of a lion. The symbolic connection between Leo and Strength goes beyond the obvious – the lion, the yellow color, and the number 8 (which corresponds to August, the heart of Leo season). In the Strength card, the lion isn’t roaring or attacking the woman, and the woman isn’t afraid. In fact, it’s the woman who displays a sense of quiet bravery needed to face something that might seem terrifying. She knows that she has the power to tame the lion, trusting her own abilities.

Confidence is the hallmark of Leo’s sign and season. Sometimes it’s the proud, massive confidence of the Lion, and sometimes it’s the steady hand of the woman in the Strength card. Those with major Leo placements may feel the need to roar and show off their natural talents, but it’s worth remembering that strength comes in many forms.

Leo Season Activities

  • Step out and enjoy the sunlight!! Leo season falls during the hottest part of the year in the Northern Hemisphere – make the most of it!
  • Show off your art to the world. Don’t let fear stop you – take advantage of Leo’s beautiful confidence.
  • Hold a bonfire! Honor Leo’s connection to this powerful element.
  • Meditate under the rays of the sun. Humans need Vitamin D to survive. Let the rays of the sun nurture your body and spirit (just don’t forget SPF!)

Leo Season Ritual:

Greeting the Sun

Leo is all about that sweet, sweet, sunny energy! This ritual will help you absorb the beauty and wellness the sun brings us, connecting you with your warmth and vitality. You can do this any time during Leo season. This ritual is best done in the morning, when the sun is just beginning to appear. If you want, you can incorporate a morning yoga session, such a sun salutation, to strengthen your connection to Leo’s planetary ruler.

Materials:

  • Sunstone
  • Carnelian
  • Pyrite
  • Sage
  • Your favorite incense (we recommend cinnamon or the Sun for this one!)
  • Blanket or yoga mat
  • Optional: meditation music or yoga sun salutation video (we like this one!)

Method:

1.Prepare your ritual:

Ideally, if you can, try to do this ritual outside. If you don’t have an outdoor space, you can do this ritual near a window that gets as much sunlight as possible.

To set up your ritual, place the blanket or yoga mat on the ground or floor. Take the sunstone, carnelian, and pyrite crystals and arrange them at one end of the blanket or mat. These crystals are all connected with the Sun’s fiery energy. Each one will invite joy and manifestation power into your life.

Begin by lighting your sage. Sage is a powerful cleanser that will give your space a fresh energy. Even if you’re performing this ritual outside, it’s a good idea to cleanse the crystals and objects you’re using, and even yourself. As you cleanse, you can begin setting your intentions.

Next, light the incense. As you light it, close your eyes and turn your face towards the sun (don’t look straight at it!). Feel its warmth and light on your face. Take three deep breaths to center your energy.

2. Perform Your Ritual:

Sit cross-legged on your blanket or mat, or in a position that’s comfortable. Try to keep your spine straight if you can. Bring your hands together and hold them near your heart center. Take three more deep breaths. As you breathe in, continue to take in the warmth of the sun. As you breathe out, feel the warmth radiate throughout your whole body.

Next, greet the sun by saying the following: “I greet the sun, whose light shines on me, filling me with joy and radiance. I feel the sun’s rays nourishing my mind, body, and spirit.”

Optionally, you can use this time to perform a sun salutation yoga sequence. If yoga isn’t your thing, you can just follow your intuition and stretch your body in whatever way is intuitive for you. The point is to stretch and move your body, waking it up and allowing the warmth and strength of the sun to reach every part of you.

Once you’ve finished your stretching or yoga, allow yourself a few more minutes to sit and enjoy the sunlight. Take three more deep breaths to close the ritual.
