Full Moon Affirmation
“My imagination guides me towards new projects, directions, and relationships. Harmony is blossoming in my relationships with others and with myself. I give myself space to make informed decisions towards my highest good.”
My Sun Sign is Libra: What Does It Mean?
Your Sun sign is the sign most closely associated with your personality and life’s trajectory. It’s the sign you show to people and how most people recognize you. If your Sun is in Libra, this means that you’re a social being who thrives on building strong relationships with others. Your friends and romantic partners know they can count on you. You love to make others happy, even if this means letting them make the decisions or sacrificing your own happiness at times.
Libra’s symbol is the Scales, the only inanimate symbol in the Zodiac. Libras are committed to justice and equilibrium – balance and harmony are key! For you, Libra, all decisions need to be made in full trust that you’ve examined every possible outcome and heard all sides of the story. You’re comfortable with grey areas and recognize that two things which may seem opposite can simultaneously be true. This makes you well-suited to mediation roles, whether it’s becoming a lawyer or helping two friends resolve an argument. Some may say you’re indecisive or a relativist, but really you just value the investigative process and refuse to jump to conclusions without knowing all the facts. Libra is ruled by the planet Venus, who governs love and beauty. Romance is extremely important to Libras, and finding the right partner matters to you. You want to build a life with someone who understands your commitment to harmony and justice.
Botticelli’s The Birth of Venus (1485-6)
Your ruling planet, Venus, also gives you an eye for the beautiful. You love all things aesthetic and surround yourself with as much beauty as you can. You like to present a polished appearance and likely keep up with trends and fashions. Your eye for design makes you well-suited to artistic pursuits like interior design, event planning, or cosmetology. Libra is a cardinal air sign. Cardinal signs begin seasons: Libra season brings with it the start of autumn and coincides with the
Equinox. Air signs tend to live inside their minds and may have trouble being grounded at times. Libra, as the cardinal air sign, is a visionary who is always coming up with new ideas. You have an active imagination which makes you a great asset to any team or friend group. With creative endeavors, collaboration with grounded, practical earth signs can help you follow through and execute your awesome ideas.
What This Libra Season Will Bring:
Most of this year’s Libra season will see Mercury in retrograde, from September 27th to October 17th. While Merc Rx is no time to panic, this time may feel especially lonely. Libra is a social sign, whereas Merc Rx encourages us to go inward and reflect on our own lives. It’s important to stay connected to your circles: you may be engaging in personal reflection and inner work, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t grab brunch or go on an errand-date with friends! Libra’s New Moon falls on October 6th, the same day that Pluto finally goes direct after almost half the year in retrograde. Pluto often brings changes and shifts; coupled with the New Moon’s energy, this is a great time for starting new projects. The Full Moon in Aries falls on October 20th, as Libra season prepares to transition to Scorpio season. The energy is intense and passionate. You may find your romantic life heating up or melting down: either way, it’s powerful!
Libra and the Justice Card
The Justice Card in the Rider-Waite-Smith Tarot deck The Justice card in most
Tarot decks features someone holding the Scales, Libra’s symbol. Like the Libra archetype, the Justice card represents balance, karma, and informed decision-making. In divination, pulling the Justice card can have a literal meaning – if you’re going through legal disputes this card may signal a favorable outcome (upright) or an unfavorable one (reversed). The meaning can also be more symbolic, though: this card brings consequences, whatever they are, good or bad. Meditating with this card or using it in ritual strengthens the power of balance and, well, justice. Whether you’re looking to bring stability back into your life or to send someone the karma they’ve earned, this card is a strong ally. Inviting this card into your rituals, meditations, or altar spaces during this season intensifies Libra’s justice-driven energy.
Libra Season Activities:
- Host a Bob Ross-style paint night! Grab some canvas, paints, and brushes, and follow along to a YouTube tutorial with your friends. (We love this fall-themed one!)
- Start an art journal. Choose a beautiful journal and get to it! Whether you like to write, draw, paint, make collages, whatever it is – give yourself a dedicated space for when inspiration strikes!
- Practice grounding meditations or spend time in nature.
- Redecorate your room: take advantage of the go-getter, artsy vibes Libra brings and reinvent how your space looks!
Libra Season Ritual: Love Manifestation Jar
For creating space in your heart and life so that new love can enter.
Materials:
Method:
1. Cleanse your spell jar and ingredients:
Light your sage bundle. As you light it, say, “I am preparing myself to find the love that is meant for me.” Sage helps to clear any space of negative or stagnant energy, and dragon’s blood resin promotes healing and prepares the way for a sensual atmosphere. Allow your spell jar, herbs, crystal chips, and essential oil to pass through the smoke of the sage bundle. This will cleanse each object and prepare it to be filled with your intention.
2. Meditate on inviting love into your life:
In order to prepare yourself for a new relationship or romantic encounter, you first need to figure out what it is you want from a partner, lover, or friend (this ritual can be used to manifest non-romantic love too!). Take some time to think about what you’re looking for. In the spirit of Libra season, this isn’t the time to rush into anything. There’s always time to stop and consider. If you’re feeling stuck, we’ve put some questions down below that you can use in your meditation. With your paper and pen, write down a few qualities that you’re looking for in a partner, lover, or friend. You can also write down what may be holding you back from finding love and express your intention to overcome that obstacle.
3. Prepare, seal, and charge your spell jar:
To make your spell jar, add each of the ingredients to the jar one at a time. As you add them, meditate on how each one will help you manifest love. You may choose to hold each ingredient for one breath cycle to fill it with your intention.
Lavender is associated with attracting a lover. It also brings a sense of calm to your life, something that is often overlooked in new romantic situations. Jasmine and rose are both associated with love; rose in particular brings all kinds of love, not just romantic. Rose quartz also brings love, but with the crucial element of self-love. You can’t expect to love someone else without having love and compassion for yourself first – and rose quartz will help in this area. Lastly, Ylang Ylang has historically been used as an aphrodisiac scent. Add two drops of this into your jar; the number 2 in numerology represents partnerships and cooperation. Roll or fold your paper towards you and place this in the jar last. Put the cover back on.
To seal your spell jar: light your pink or red candle. Choose the color based on the type of love you’re trying to attract: pink for sweet romance or friendship, and red for fiery passion. If you’re looking for both, you can always use one of each color. Drip some of the wax from your candle/s over the top of your jar and allow it to drip down the sides. To charge your spell jar: hold the jar in your hands for a few breath cycles and concentrate on the intention you want to manifest. Think about what you wrote on your paper. Imagine this partner, lover, or friend appearing in your life. Place this jar on your altar or in a prominent place. If you chose to include the Lovers Tarot card, you can place your jar on top of that card and let it do its thing.
