MY MOON IS IN SAGITTARIUS – WHAT DOES IT MEAN?
Your moon sign is your inner self, your emotions, the “you” you don’t show to people. If your moon is in Sagittarius, you are someone who seeks adventure and isn’t afraid to try new things. You are adaptable with your feelings – nothing can rock your boat! Your friend suddenly canceled your movie date? No worries, you’ll settle into bed early with a book and a glass of wine, and catch up with them later. Amazon package delayed in the Suez? Eh, you’ll get it eventually. You are flexible and able to roll with the tide.
Because of this ability to change course so easily, you may be accused of changing your mind too quickly, especially with relationships. You may find it difficult to commit to one partner, because your adventurous spirit is always on the lookout for something new. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but be cautious with how you approach romantic relationships and be honest with what you’re looking for. Your ideal partner is someone who can be spontaneous and adventurous with you, someone who keeps you on your toes.
Sag moons might benefit from a grounding practice to keep yourself from floating away towards the next adventure. We recommend wearing or carrying bronzite to ground and focus your energy, and keeping sodalite near you when you really need to focus on a project or task.
TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE
A solar eclipse always occurs on the New Moon, when the Sun and Moon are conjunct (together) in the sky. The moon passes between the Earth and the Sun, obscuring the Sun’s light from our view. This month’s eclipse will be a total solar eclipse, meaning that the entire sun will be obscured. Unlike the recent lunar eclipse, which was the longest in half a millennium, this solar eclipse will only last a few moments, and will only be visible as a total solar eclipse over Antarctica and a small portion of South Africa.
Solar eclipses carry and amplify the energy of the New Moons on which they occur – big changes, new beginnings, and a boundless energy. This is a perfect time to start a new project, especially one related to the themes of Sagittarius. Solar eclipses also have a lasting impact – expect this energy to carry through for several months, and be on the lookout for what happens with your New Moon manifestations during that period.
This is the last eclipse on the Sagittarius-Gemini axis, where all eclipses (except the recent lunar eclipse) have occurred since May 2020. Take a moment to reflect on what’s happened in your life during this period and how you’ve changed. We’ve reached the end of this cycle and are entering into the new eclipse season on the Taurus-Scorpio axis, which will last until 2023.
NEW MOON RITUAL:
MANIFESTATION SPELL JAR
The solar eclipse carries a seriously powerful energy, so we created a supercharged spell jar for manifesting what you want to achieve. This spell is customizable: if you have a specific goal and want to add more targeted items, go ahead!
MATERIALS:
- Small jar
- Pen
-
Ritual candle in the color of your choice; here are some suggestions:
- Red: manifesting desires
- Orange: success
- Green: prosperity
- Incense of your choice (we recommend sandalwood)
- Bay leaf
- Frankincense resin
- Malachite
- Citrine
- Garnet
- Pyrite
- Clear quartz
- Something made from copper (a penny will work)
1. CLEANSE YOUR JAR AND ITEMS:
Begin by lighting your incense. Sandalwood is great for manifestation of your desires, but feel free to use whatever incense speaks to you. Pass the incense around your space and inside the jar. Next, pass each of your ritual items through the smoke of the incense to cleanse them and prepare them for constructing your spell.
2. SET YOUR INTENTION
Now is the time to decide what you want to manifest. What have you been holding back from? What has felt just…out of your reach? This solar eclipse is asking you to step into your power and realize that nothing is impossible, nothing is too big.
Once you’ve decided on your intention, write it on the bay leaf. Bay leaves are strong manifestation herbs. If you want, you can burn the bay leaf and send the smoke up to the universe, then put the ashes in the jar. But you can just put the bay leaf in the jar as it is – either way, it’ll work.
3. BUILD YOUR JAR:
Next, it’s time to build your jar. Add each of the items one by one as follows:
Take the frankincense resin in your hands, keeping your focus on your intention. Take a long breath in through your nose, then breathe out through your mouth onto the frankincense, imbuing it with your intention. Frankincense helps you co-create with the universe, inviting the divine, universal power, and the Higher Self to assist in your manifestations. Once you’ve breathed your intention into the frankincense, add it to the spell jar.
Repeat this breath technique with the rest of your ingredients. Malachite is the powerful stone of manifestation, and it has a no-nonsense attitude. It brings the change you need, whether you think you’re ready or not (spoiler: you’re ready!). Citrine, garnet, and pyrite all help with manifestation as well, by taking the ideas that are in your head and bringing them into the physical world. You may have heard that citrine and pyrite are good for drawing in money – this is true, because money is fundamentally about the material, physical world. Thus, these stones will work in manifesting anything you want to bring into the physical world, whether it’s money or something else entirely. Clear quartz is an amplifier and will supercharge the energies of the other stones. Lastly, copper is an energy conductor and will help radiate your desires out into the world.
Once you’ve added all your ingredients, it’s time to seal the jar. Put the cover on the jar, and then light your candle. (Optional: carve your intention into the candle with a toothpick for an extra boost.) Drip the wax over the top of the jar until it is fully sealed. Another way to do this is to stick the candle on the jar’s cover by melting the bottom, and then letting it burn and drip down the sides of the jar.
4. CHARGE YOUR JAR:
Once you’ve finished your jar, you can charge it by leaving it out on the night of the new moon, either outside or on a windowsill. It will absorb the energy of both the moon and the sun and supercharge your manifestation.
Keep the jar at your altar or in a safe place until your manifestation comes to fruition. Periodically shake the jar when you need an extra boost.
RITUAL ON THE RUN:
CLARITY
A quick 5-10 minute ritual for when you’re busy!
A theme of this new moon is keeping track of what is reality and what is perception, misunderstanding, or clouded vision. If you’ve been feeling foggy or confused, this ritual can help you get some clarity by ridding yourself of any unnecessary thoughts or mind-junk.
MATERIALS:
- Sage or incense of your choice
- Blue candle
- White candle
- Clear quartz
- Somewhere comfortable to lie down
- Optional: meditation music (we recommend this one)
- Cold water to drink
1.CREATE A SACRED SPACE:
Begin by cleansing your space with sage. In order to find clarity in the mind, it’s important to get rid of cluttered or stagnant energy in your physical space. Sage will clear out anything that needs to go, leaving you space for breath and focus.
2. PERFORM YOUR RITUAL:
Set up your candles. If you can do so safely, place one to the left of where your head will be, and one to the right. The colors blue and white promote wisdom and clarity. If you’re choosing to include meditation music, play it now.
To begin, light your candles, then lie down in a comfortable space. Take the clear quartz and place it over your Third Eye chakra (between your eyebrows/in the middle of your forehead.
Begin to breathe deeply. As you breathe in, visualize a burst of refreshing wind entering your head. As you exhale, visualize that wind leaving your head, taking with it all the clutter, cobwebs, and junk that’s in there. Continue this breath work for several minutes, even up to an hour if you have time. If your thoughts begin to race, that’s okay. Just let them pass and return to the exercise.
The ritual is complete when you feel more open and spacious. When you finish the ritual, sit up slowly. You may feel a bit lightheaded, so take your time. Drink plenty of cold water and take it easy for a while after the ritual is finished.
You should find it easier to think through situations and problems in the days following the ritual.
