Virgo Season 2022
AUGUST 23 - SEPTEMBER 22, 2022
VIRGO SEASON AFFIRMATION
BY PRIORITIZING MY HEALTH AND WELLBEING, I AM INVESTING IN MY LONG TERM HAPPINESS AND SUCCESS.
WHAT THIS VIRGO SEASON WILL BRING
This year, Virgo season begins with a new moon in Virgo on August 27th. New moons are always ideal for setting fresh intentions and starting over with a clean slate. This new moon is also at the start of the school year, and is a great time to set an intention if you’re a student.
Okay. Don’t freak out. Mercury once again goes retrograde on September 9th. Merc Rx gets a bad reputation, but honestly? We love it. A Mercury retrograde period in Virgo is ideal, since all it requires is a bit of extra planning – Virgo’s wheelhouse. Mercury retrograde as a time for slowing down, practicing self-care, and focusing on your health, wealth, and happiness. It isn’t the time for making big moves, but it’s the time for planning your next steps.
The full moon in Pisces occurs right at the start of Merc Rx on September 10th. Pisces is the spiritual guru of the zodiac, and combined with Merc’s retrograde movement, this can be an ideal day for deep introspection and meditation. Whatever gets you to that spiritual place, focus on that at this time.
The fall equinox, also called Mabon, occurs on September 21st. This is a time of reaping what you sow, since it’s the second of three traditional harvest festivals. Practice gratitude and don’t forget to give yourself credit for all you’ve accomplished! The work isn’t over yet, but it’s important to stop and recognize that you’ve come a long way.
VIRGO AND THE HERMIT CARD
Virgo is represented by the Hermit card in the traditional Rider-Waite-Smith Tarot. This doesn’t mean that Virgos are antisocial or even loners, although Virgos do like their “me time.” What the Hermit symbolizes is wisdom – the lantern shines a light on the situation, helping the Hermit see things as they truly are. The Hermit is interested in finding out the truth, something that Virgos value as well.
While Virgo’s symbol of “the Virgin” shouldn’t necessarily be taken literally, it can be helpful to think about this aspect of Virgo as a solitary figure. The Hermit stands alone, although he isn’t lonely. Rather, he is taking the time to examine things, viewing the world from his eagle’s perch. Virgo and the Hermit both speak of the importance of stepping out of the world for a while and going inward instead.

VIRGO SEASON RITUAL:
HEALTHY HABITS
Virgo is the healer of the zodiac, and with winter approaching now is the perfect time to focus on our health. This ritual takes advantage of Virgo’s ability to plan ahead and set goals – by creating a solid plan we can more easily achieve what we set out to. Plans and to-do lists can be stressful for some, so this ritual uses a stepwise process to avoid overburdening yourself. Use this cozy ritual to help you formulate your best wellness plan.
MATERIALS:
- Your favorite incense (Optional: sage or palo santo)
- Pen and paper/journal
- Crystals that align with your healthy habit goals (see below for some recommendations, and don’t forget to check out our intention pages!)
- Optional: anything that makes you feel comfortable – pillows, blankets, your favorite sweater, etc.
METHOD:
1. CREATE A SACRED AND COMFORTABLE SPACE:
This ritual is all about your wellbeing, so the most important thing to do is create a comfortable environment for yourself. Begin by tidying your space (Virgo can’t have a mess!). Set up a cozy space with whatever makes you feel relaxed.
Next, cleanse your space. If your space feels particularly stuffy or energetically stagnant, feel free to cleanse with sage or palo santo first. If it feels okay, simply cleanse with your favorite incense. Grab your pen and journal and settle in.
2. SET GOALS AND MAKE A PLAN:
Begin with your intention. What area of your life would you like to be more healthy in? Remember, health goes beyond the physical. You can choose to focus on physical health, mental health, your finances, your social interactions, family dynamics, career, and so on. Write your intention at the top of the page using the formula: “I am healthy in my _____.”
Next, write down some steps that will help you achieve this goal. For example, if you plan to focus on financial wealth, you might want to cancel some unwanted subscriptions, set aside a certain amount each week, or watch videos about the stock market so you can invest in the future. Try to break down each step into manageable pieces and avoid setting long term ultimatums. So, instead of saying, “I will exercise 30 minutes every day for the rest of my life,” say, “This week I will exercise 4 days.” The latter is an achievable goal that you can reach quickly. This will help motivate you going forward.
Lastly, write down why you want to work on your specific goal and how it will benefit your life. Try to be as upbeat and encouraging as possible. Rather than saying, “working on my fitness will benefit me because I’m fat and I don’t like the way I look,” say, “working on my fitness will help me feel stronger, more energetic, and more confident, which will ripple out into other areas of my life.”
Once you’ve written down your healthy habits plan, place crystals associated with your specific intention (see below for recommendations) on top of your paper/journal. Allow them to sit overnight, and then you can carry them with you as a reminder to prioritize yourself and your wellbeing.
